It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything here.  I’m sorry to anyone that stops by here to see what I’m up to.  I haven’t been up to much, just a few things here and there.  As the school year ended I had lots of things to keep me busy so I’ve only had time to make small projects.

Teacher gift headband with flower

This was a quick headband I made from my son’s kinder teacher.  I also made a matching necklace.  The pattern can be found on Creative Yarns blog.  It is for the headband only and if you look you will see the link for her flower or make one of your own.

Granny purse

This was a quick granny square purse that I made following the directions on Vallieskids blog on how to put them together.  Really it’s more like you make them and just fold them over and whip them together.  Oh so simple!

I am in the process of making a tank top!  I have only been wanting to make one for the past 3 years!   I made one in crochet, Cameo, and now I’m making this one call the Razor Cami by Katie Marcus at Oh My Stars blog.  I’ll be doing a few mods to it and will be a photo of where I am so that you can see how it’s coming along.  The pattern is very easy to remember and it really does look good.

Again sorry I’ve been AWL for a while but I hope to be back one the ban wagon now.  Everyone need a break once in a while!

One down…

Well, I got the first of who knows how many thing for my new great niece or nephew done.  It’s now called “Very Colorful Granny”.  I do have a love for lots of brights colors in a blanket, you wont see it around my house though. (strange really)  This one makes me smile every time I see it.

I used Red Heart in lots of bright colors and used a very simple granny square.  It only took me 7 days to complete it!  Now I have lots of time to make other things for the baby.  It’s funny really, my husband commented that only just a few years ago it would take me almost the whole 9 months for finish a blanket and now I can get 9 done in that time.  :P

I really should start on some of my UFO’s now, but hubby has me making him a hat first.  It’s called the Reasonable Hip hat and I’m really excited about making it.  I hope it turns out well, my track record on hats for hubby isn’t that good. :(

Finish the UFO’s

That is my goal for 2009, finish my UFO’s.  I have a few Un-Finished Objects laying around and they need to get done.

  1. Is the elusive Harry Potter scarf.  I have only tried to start this thing about 3 times and I’m soon to be working on my 4th time.
  2. Is the Sun Ray shawl.  I really like this and want to finish it, but I’m not quite half way through it.
  3. My Diagonal scarf.  I’m using all the left over yarn from my Very Colorful Blanket.  I started this right after I finished my blanket and it has been setting for over a year.
  4. Is called Purple Heaven.  It’s a blanket that I am making for my daughter.  I try to work on it when I would set in the car waiting to pick her up from school, but now I just walk and so it has just set there.
  5. Is a sweater called ” Starsky” .  It’s based on the sweater warn in the TV show.  I love it and can’t wait to finish it.
  6. Is a quilt blanket from the Happy Yellow House called Desert Star.  It’s  made out of granny squares, which I love, but they are small and as soon as you start one you are finished with it.   I make up a few and then I’m done for a while.   It will be an awesome blanket when I’m finished.

These will all have to be finished around me making baby items for the upcoming niece or nephew’s arrival.  I have several blanket and sweaters to make and I will try to fit in these other iteams.  Wish me luck!

Now for an update.

Yes, I know it has been far too long since I have posted any of my finished items.  With the holidays finally over and kids and hubby back at work and school, and me with some time to set and think, I’m back!

I haven’t been doing a lot of crochet of late, my fancy has turned to knitting, as you may have noticed, so it should come as no surprise that I have yet another hat to show you.  This one is called the Armando.  It is by the same designer as the Amanda hat and can be found on her blog Sleepy Eyes Knitting, just scroll down the right side of her blog and look for Sleepy Eyes Patterns.

The Armando Hat

I really liked the simple pattern repeats, but I will have to choose a better yarn next time.  I used a Bernat yarn is some type of sport.  It was 100% acrylic and onced washed it now fits my son.  Not to happy after that one.

This is one that I finished last night.  It’s from Drops Design and is just called Headband, fitting name really.  I made it using some yarn from Knit Picks called Main Line.  It a WW cotton and wool and it is just wonderful to work with.  This makes the perfect one skein project as this yarn was part of a sample bag and was only 82 yarns and I was left with a bit of overage.  It’s very simple and perfect for someone that wants to work on their purl inc and dec.
Drops Headband

I do have a few more things to show you, but I’ll  save that for another post.  Now I must go looking for my next WIP.

Just taking a break.

Nope, I didn’t fall off the face of the earth. Nope, I didn’t hang up my hooks and needles. Nope, I didn’t run out of yarn. I just gave myself a bit of a break. Ever fiberist needs one every now and then and it really gets you itching for something to make. I do have a few FO to post. I just finished one tonight a quick cowl that is blocking right now and will be posted soon. So I’ll be back soon to start the new year off right. See you soon!

Over a month!

I can’t believe that it’s been that long!  Well, really I guess I can.  So what has been happening… well, I have been getting ready for Christmas around here, I have been knitting and crocheting up a storm, and  I haven’t been taking pictures of my finished objects! :o   I know for shame!  I promise to get them taken soon.

On a different note it seems that my ATT internet made some changes and one of them is no more free Flicker.  I can’t afford to pay for an account with them so I will be moving back to my Photobuckets account.  Now I don’t know if I will lose the picture link that I have or not, so if, some time in Feb, you come on here and there isn’t any photos then hold tight will I work to set up the new links.

I’ll be back soon, hopefully, with pictures.

Oh and by the way PLEASE leave a comment, even if it’s to say your knitting is crap.  I’ve had over 400 hits to my pather paw earrings and my pencil scarf and not one person has said anything, Yes a thank you would be nice!  IF I keep getting hits and no comments I will think about removing my patterns.  It’s not nice to have your work taken for granted!

Another Hat!

Yes, it’s true, another hat!  I, however; made this one for myself! I’ve had this yarn for well over a year and I just loved the colors!  It’s Patons Decor in autumn varagated and I was really hoping that the pattern would stand out a bit better then it does.  I guess the veragated yarn keeps you for really seeing the pattern.  I still like it and it was a very easy hat to make.  The pattern is from Knitty and is call Foliage, and is easy to do, except watch out for the first few rows.  Because it is a top down hat you start with only two stitches on your DPN’s and that can be a bit of a mess when youre not use to it, but once you finished about 3 or 4 rows it’s a pice of cake.

Foliage

I’ve been working on a shawl, not sure if I posted about that or not, it’s yet another free pattern.  This one can be found on the Elann site, it’s called the Sun Ray Shawl and I’m doing it in Caron Simply Soft, not that I’m writing about it I’m sure I posted it somewhere on here…  anyhoo, I still chugging alone on it and I’m finding it eaiser to figure out the pattern, though I may never have it commented to memory.

Well that’s about it for right now, I’m sure I’ll be back with something else that’s come off the needles or hook!!

Welcome Nov!

The years are coming to a end quicker and quicker! *Deep Sigh* Only two more months and we will welcome in a new year. *Another Deep Sigh* Oh well, I’ll have a lot to show for it this year!  I’ve made more things this year then ever before, and know I’ll top that next year!  To add another thing to the count, I’ve finished yet another hat for Hubby.  This one is by the same designer as the Koolhaas Hat his name is Jared Flood, and has some great patterns on his blog brooklyntweed.  This one is called Habitat and is a complex looking hat and pattern, but turns out to be well written and simple to understand.

Dans habitat hat

As always thought I have my mistake, but I’m not going to tell you where, but that was me not paying attention to what stitch was next.  I hope to make another one, this on is too short, again, for Hubbys head, so I’ll and a flip up band to it once I get more yarn.

I’ve started another hat, this time it’s for me!  It’s called Foliage, and is a top down hat.  I’m already to the body of the hat and hope to be done soon.

Hope everyone had a safe and happ Halloween and let’s bring on Thanksgiving!!
