Yes, I’m a Ka-Bloomie. If you don’t know what that is you must not be in love with Orlando Bloom. If you are, you are one of the lucky ones. Who is Orlando Bloom the elf, Legolas, from Lord of the Rings, Paris from Troy, Drew from Elizabethtown, ect, ect. Anyway, I joined a forum called Kabloom where ladies from all over talk, joke, and drool over Mr. Bloom.
Well, one day in 2005 they decided to hold a convention (I didn’t get to go) and get together and meet. I was asked to make a few scarves, along with a few other lovely ladies, to show the wonderful ladies that take care of the forum how much we care. For whatever reason after all was said and done I was told that they were sending a goodie box to Orlando and his mother, yes he know about our little get together, and was asked if I could make a scarf for his mother! How could I say no!!!! I made two scarves that I hoped she would like. I worried from the time that I started them to this day that she would like them.
Low and behold here is this years Christmas card from the Bloom and what do we see on Mrs. Bloom’s neck but the scarf that I made!! I think I let out a bit of a scream when I saw it. I’m just so happy that she would wear it in a card that would go out to so many people! I am having a very proud moment.
This is a close up of the scarf:
Right now I can’t even remember what yarn I used I’ll have to look it up, but it’s a nice evening scarf and I’m just so happy that I have a photo of her wearing it.
This is my mistake. In my hurry and excitment to post this I should have noted that I did not personally recieve this Christmas card. This card was posted over at Ka-Bloom.org for all of Orlando’s fans to share. I would like to thank Jan the owner of Ka-Bloom for letting me post the card on my blog! Thanks so much.
ETA: I used Glitterspun and Trellis, both by Lion Brand.
It’s super fast!! But, we still have some bugs to work out. I’m not hooked up to the internet quite the right way, and I still have to reupload all my files from my other computer, but this thing runs fassssst! I can’t wait to start playing some games and maybe get back into a bit of graphic arts. (maybe I should get elements 4 to start off right?)
Well, until I get my files uploaded on to this new super computer I won’t have any photo’s to share, but once I do I’ll have some goodies to show you. I don’t see any of that happening until after Christmas.
So, again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
I thought I would go ahead and post a few of the other things that I have been working on.
This is an Irish hiking scarf that I found on Ravelry, but you can find it on Hello Yarn’s web site.
The cable’s are much easier then the one that I made on the cell phone holder, and they look more impressive if you ask me. I am having a lot of fun making them and I can’t wait to try another cabled scarf that I also found on Ravelry.
I have also been working on a Harry Potter scarf that I am making for my Sister-In-Law, but I’m not happy with the way the sides are working out.
On the ends the yellow strip go’s too far up into the red, and this isn’t on the color change side. I don’t like how it looks at all and I don’t know how to fix it. I’m thinking about frogging the whole thing and doing it in the round. I’m just worried that this will make it too thick. She lives in Austin, TX and as it does get cold it doesn’t get that cold. I’m really having a hard time with this one. If anyone has any ideals PLEASE give them to me!!
I hope that everyone has a Very Merry Christmas!
Let’s see if this is going to work.
My daughter has found the joy of Tic Tac Toe. She has used up enough paper to supply a school for a year. So on the way down to Austin for Thanksgiving I made her, her very own tic tac toe board, complete with x’s and o’s.
This is my very own pattern and I don’t have it written out, but if anyone one wants it just let me know and I’ll be happy to try to remember what I did.
My next one is to try to make my son a checker board.
and it’s not good. My computer is just inches away from kicking the bucket. After putting in a brand new $125 mother board, and a cheep video card just to get the thing working, it seems my hard drive is trying to fail. There is no saving this thing. I don’t know when we will get a new one, hopefully after the new year they will have some great sales, but until then not much will be happening on here. I will come on from time to time to let you know how it’s going, but as far as posting my work, I don’t know if I want to try that or not. If I get board I my try to upload some of my work to my computer, but I just don’t know if it can handle it.
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday, or a Happy Chanukah, and a Happy New Year!!
That come Tue of next week I should be back on my own computer. Hubby took my computer in and they said that it was the mother board and that replaceing it should fix the problem. Let’s hope! You never know how much you miss something until it’s gone. 😦 I have spent a week without looking for free crochet patterns, I have cleaned my house too well that hubby wont believe me anymore when I tell him just how long it takes to really clean the bathrooms. :0
Well needless to say that I have no new projects to show, even if I did I wouldn’t have a way to upload any of the photos. Here’s hoping that next week brings better things.
I hope everyone has a safe and great weekend!
