It’s been a while, as always, but I’m still working on the sweater vest. Hubby hurt his knee and had to have surgery so that kept me busy for a bit, but I’m back to work on it. I’m almost finished with the back and once that is done I’ll post a picture of it.
I haven’t been working on much since I’ve been busy with hubby, but I do have an in between project going. I just started work at the kids school, I’ll start back in Aug, and so I now have new things to knit for me so that I look nice!! I started the Lace Cardi from the Spring/ Summer issue of Vogue Knitting. The stitch is very easy to remember, but you really have to pay attention to the pattern, which I didn’t!! I have 5 extra stitches on each side, but that shouldn’t really make much of a difference to the end product.
I’m using Caron Simply Soft in ocean and I love the color!! I think I’m going to like this when it’s done. Now to give Mario some love too.
I have been wanting to make Alesa a tank top for the summer, about as much a I want to make one for myself. So the other day I let her pick out some yarn for her top and yesterday I went to work looking for the perfect pattern. I couldn’t find the perfect pattern so I just winged it.
We used Caron Simply Soft in Soft Green. I wanted something that was open so that the acrylic factor wouldn’t be so hot.
I left it apron style in the back so that, again, we didn’t have the acrylic factor. She really likes it and I think with a simple white shirt underneath she should be able to wear it to school.
Here is the top just laid out on the table, please excuse the lighting I really have no good places inside to take photo’s.
Now, I didn’t write out the pattern for this, simply because I don’t like writing them and I haven’t head that anyone has ever used the ones that I have written.
Ugh, I made two really cute baby tops and forgot to take pictures of them! One was called Katja from Knitty.com and the other was Summer Shells by Yummy Yarn. I really liked both of the patterns and they were very easy to follow. They made really cute tops and I would recommend them to anyone. I used Caron Simply Soft and made size 6-9 mos. I think they were too big for the baby now, but should fit in the heat of the Texas summer.
Now, I did manage to take a picture of the Shalom Cardigan that I’m making. (Look on the right side of her blog and you will see the pattern.)
I’m using Lion Brand Jiffy, that I found on sale at Joann’s for $.97! I got the last 8 skeins of it and set of to make this. So far I have only used 3 skeins and I might have to use one more to make it longer, we’ll see. The pattern is also very easy to follow, although she only has it in one size, M, she does give you tips to make is larger or smaller. I hope to have this done by the weekend and will get pictures then.
I also picked up some of the new Naturally Caron.com yarn called Spa. It’s a really soft and silky bamboo blend. It’s made with 75% Microdenier Acrylic and 25% Bamboo. It’s a size 3 (light) or DK weight yarn and will make the perfect tank top, which is all I’ve been wanting to make this year, I just haven’t been able to find the perfect yarn. =) They also have a wool blend that was really really nice and maybe the next ones I get. Cost $4.99 at Joann’s.
By the way most of these patterns I find on Ravelry. The people on there are so wonderful and you can find a lot of free patterns. If you are on there you can find me by Hazlecreek, if not just sign up! Right now it’s by invitation only, but you should get that in about 2 days now. It’s worth the wait!
