The years are coming to a end quicker and quicker! *Deep Sigh* Only two more months and we will welcome in a new year. *Another Deep Sigh* Oh well, I’ll have a lot to show for it this year! I’ve made more things this year then ever before, and know I’ll top that next year! To add another thing to the count, I’ve finished yet another hat for Hubby. This one is by the same designer as the Koolhaas Hat his name is Jared Flood, and has some great patterns on his blog brooklyntweed. This one is called Habitat and is a complex looking hat and pattern, but turns out to be well written and simple to understand.
As always thought I have my mistake, but I’m not going to tell you where, but that was me not paying attention to what stitch was next. I hope to make another one, this on is too short, again, for Hubbys head, so I’ll and a flip up band to it once I get more yarn.
I’ve started another hat, this time it’s for me! It’s called Foliage, and is a top down hat. I’m already to the body of the hat and hope to be done soon.
Hope everyone had a safe and happ Halloween and let’s bring on Thanksgiving!!
After a year of planning, buying and otherwise honeing my skills I have now finished the Koolhass Hat.
I will admit that it was a bit fun to make, once I stopped using the cable needle. Really it is a must when you make this hat. (you can still make it with the cable needle it just take so much time to use.) I will however have to make another one for two reasons. One, it was a bit short for hubby so I need the extra repeat, and two because the MIL took this one!
I loved using my new Knit Picks circular needles. I got the wood ones and they just feel so much better in my hands then the bamboo ones do. I’m glad that I just sucked it up and ordered them. I have the chance to buy a whole set of Nickle plated ones, and yes Jocelyn I still very much want to get them I just haven’t had the chance yet, I think I may sell the Denise ones I just got if I find that I like these better, or not! LOL
I have a project that I’m working on right now. It’s a bag for my needles. I can’t say anymore, but I stole the ideal from hubbies fishing tackle. If it works out like I hope than I will have the pattern, or the bags for sell, so stand by! It will also work great for crochet hooks too! 😉
I did start the other hat for hubby, but ended up hating the needles that I was using! I need a set of size 6 16″ circular needles and size 8 16″. I have a pair of some plastic, really pointed, size 6 and no 8, but can you believe that neither of them are at my local Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or Joann’s. So Mon when the kids go off to school I’m off to my LYS to get me a set interchangeable needles! I tired of needing all different needles and never having the right ones.
So until that happens I made this little hat for Alesa. Hermione’s hat that she wears in Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. I used some Patons Classic Wool that was given to me by a lovely lady on Crochetville. The partten was really easy, even thought I only casted on 98 (I think) and had to M1 after the ribbing and I had to follow the mod that was giving in her comment section on the decreases. It really wasn’t hard to do at all and I may make a few more as gifts. Three days tops, off and on, to make and I’m slow.
The hat looks gray in the photo, but it has a more natural brown color. I still have a few days of waiting before I’m off to the LYS, so in the mean time I may start on the Luna Lovegood Scarf for something to do. You gotta love Harry Potter, I know I do!!!
