Moss Stitch Pattern

Let’s learn the moss stitch, or the woven stitch.

This stitch is the best for the beginner crocheter since it only consists of double crochet and chain stitches. This stitch can be used for blankets and scarves.

Abbreviations I will be using:

Ch – chain

Sc – single crochet

Sl st – slip stitch

Start by deciding what you want to make and how long you want your starting ch to be. I will using a ch of 20 + 2 for a scarf. If you want a blanket 200 +2.

Row 1: ch 20 plus 2 more.

Row 2: sc in the 3 ch from hook, ch 1, skip next chain and * sc in the next st, ch 1* to the end sc in last ch, ch 2.

Row 3: turn your work and *sc in the next open ch 1 space, ch 1* across to the end sc in the last open space from you ch 2.

Continue rows 2-3 until desired length.

This blanket is using 8 different colors but looks great with just one or two colors.

Below you will find the PDF of the pattern. If you are unable to get the file to work please let me know, this is the first time I have tried to add a file like this. Thanks
